2/8/15 Sunday Sanford Fla

I got up early this morning, accomplished a few chores, Rod accomplished several, showered dressed and enjoyed the beautiful day. We were so excited about going to Titusville this evening for dinner and watch the missile launch from Vapr Canaveral!!! Timing was perfect!!! We all left about 3:30pm made the 50 minute drive to Titusville and had dinner at a locals place called New York New York. Ordered our favorite appetizer Fried Gizzards!! I know sounds yucky but they are delicious!!! Ha  Paula and I shared a HUGH 1/2 lb hamburger with home made potato chips!! Wow!!so good!!, finished supper just in time to walk outside get set up with our Binoculars and camera. We were so excited and so was about 100 other people standing on the banks of the waterway there at the restaurant, to see the missile take off!!! Count down 15secs to liftoff "SCRUFFED" (that means cancelled) Such disappointment!!!! The news said there was a helium leak!!!  Maybe tomorrow but we will again have to watch from our boat at Sanford about 40 miles away!!! We were all sad, to again, not get to see a launching from close up!!
Oh well, maybe next year!!! Home now, jammies on and resting up for the final day here tomorrow. Few more last minute chores and of course a grocery day to stock up for our next leg of our journey!!! We will miss out dear friends as we will not see them again until late summer or fall.
Much love to all, Fran and Capn Rod
Here is the only pic I took !!!  Falcon 9 Ready for liftoff!!!    So disapointed !!!!

2/7/15 Saturday Sanford Fla

Another georgeous day!!! I love this sunshine!!!!  Having coffee this morning out on the back deck of the boat, we saw tents being set up on the river walk across from the boat. Then old fire trucks came, and other emergency response trailers, and helicopters. So instead of doing our chores, we decided to take off and go see what was going on!!! We were suppose to go to the art festival in Mt Dora with Paila and Jim, but Paula woke up with severe back pain.
They had every aspect of an emergency response team there for demonstration and was giving way goodies to the kids, I got my Jr firefighter sticker!!! I will share some of the pics (I took many)!! Ha
I thought is was a little chilly and wore a sweatshirt, but before we had walked 100 ft, I was down to a Tshirt!!! Nice day!! Then we went, one last time before we leave here, and devoured another bread bowl of French onion soup at The Corner Cafe!!! Then back to the boat after getting a few veggies at the farmers market, and started our needed chores before we head out of here the first of the week.
Paula wanted to take a short walk to see how her back would hold up so we went and checked on the heron nest, they were not at home!!
Clothes washed, house cleaned and bikes now on board. Just the dinghy, and kayak yet to load!! Water tanks are full and it looks like we are pretty much ready.
We all then decided to go to a restaurant called Wolfy's here at the marina to have dinner and see the band that was playing for the Benifit to raise medical funds for Jim's son battling cancer!!! But for us old folks, it was just to loud to enjoy!!! We did not stay long!! Ha
It's suppose to rain Monday so we will pull out of here Tuesday morning early.
We plan to go to Titusville tomorrow and have supper tomorrow night at another favorite restaurant where we can watch another missile launch at 6:30pm!! I hope it does not get cancelled!!!
Overall it's been a good day!!!
Much love to all, Fran and Capn Rod

Sanford's first fire truck!!! 1921.  Some high school kids just refurbished it this year!!! It still runs and all parts work as it did when it was new!! Rod was enjoying talking to the man that keeps it sparking new.

A church here owns this trailer they take to disaster areas!! We took a tour through it, the ladies said they could serve 2000 meals a day!!! What a ministry!!!

Rod had a great time talking to this young lady about alligators !!! This one is a pet but they capture nuisance gators and relocate them to another area.

I want my dogs life !!!! Ha  she is so spoiled!!!!  She loves the back deck too!! Basking in the sun!!!

2/6/15 Friday Sanford Fla

WooHoo!!! It's Friday!!!  And a beautiful day in sunny Florida. Started some laundry this morning and some cleaning up a bit then Paula and I decided to take off for a bike ride. But Rod broke the bike nut when he was trying to raise up the handle bars!! Oh well, we just decided to walk!!! 2 miles on the water front!! We found the Great Herons and stopped for some pics and saw a HUGH alligator sitting on the bank!!
After a rest and some more chores that needed to get accomplished we took off early, 5pm to beat the rush, to go for my birthday dinner at Longhorn Steak house!!! Yummo!!! A nice ribeye, baked potato and salad!!! A Long awaited meal as we have not had a steak in months!!!  I brought home enough leftovers for another meal!!! Ha
We decided to go to Mt. Dora to the art festival tomorrow. And then we will be attending a benefit fundraiser for Jamie's Journey (Jim's son who is battling cancer). The outpouring of help has been overwhelming!!! Praise God!!!
Other than that we have just enjoyed the georgeous day!!!!
Still not sure when we will leave here but we must get going the first of next week!!
Love to all, Fran and Capn Rod

2/5/15 Thursday Sanford Fla

It's 10pm on Thursday the 5th, we made it back home after an 8 hour drive from Salisbury, NC. A long hard 5 days with much grief over the tragic loss of my daughters father in law Terry Roseman. We enjoyed our unexpected time with Sherry, her husband Allen and the grandkids Triston and Allie. Also, was very glad to be able to spend time with Kay, Terry's wife to,offer our love and support to her. We love you Kay and will continue to pray for God to surround you with his never ending love, peace and strength in the days to come.
We had a good trip, although long, 539 miles back to Sanford Florida. Always good to be home, and our home is wherever it is docked!! Ha
We arrived home to wonderful friends that provided a great supper of while bean chicken chili and a surprise desert!! It was very welcomed!!! Thanks Paula and Jim for dinner and looking after our home while we were away. You are the best!!!!!! I recieved my birthday gifts I missed while we were gone, Paula and Jim gave me a beautiful set of shell earrings and matching necklace pendant, and a wine cork screw. Rod gave me a set of diamond and silver matching necklace and earrings!!! I LOVE new jewelry!!! WooHoo!!!! A great belated birthday!!!!

1/29/15 Thursday Sanford Fla

Ok so it's Friday morning!! I could not post last night as my IPad decided to do an iCloud update and refused to let me into any program!!! So here I am this morning.
Beautiful day yesterday we took off around 9:30 and headed to Titusville and Cocoa Beach for the day. A georgeous ride as we took the back roads. We ended up at Port Canaveral a hugh cruise ship port,  and toured the city and saw the Locks on the waterway. We were not able to get as close as I would have like but able to get a few pics. We stopped at the boat parts store we drove there for and picked up the parts needed, then went back up to Titusville and had lunch at out favorite Mexican restaurant "The Little Lion" !!! A fun day with friends!!!! Home around 4pm and the rest of the evening was just relaxing!!!
Expected to be 70 degrees today so there my be a kayak ride today!!!! I good outdoors day!!!
Much love to all, Fran and Capn Rod

A large boat can go into this lock and the water is raised up from a lower level and off you go!!

El Leoncito "the little lion" eaten here many times!!! Yummo!! I had enough for dinner tonight!! Leftovers!!

Playtime with Lexie after we got home!!

Lovin a chew stick!!!

1/28/15 Wednesday Sanford Fla

Our fun today!!! Rod helped Jim installed the 300 ft of anchor chain they purchased in Ft Lauderdale yesterday!!! What a day! this chain was 300 lbs total. I got good pics!! Ha   Jim has done so much for us since we have been here it was good to finally help him with a chore. I got some good pics to share.
A chilly cool day 60 degrees but there was people on the dock today in shorts if they were sitting in the sun. I had a long sleeve Tshirt on and at times needed a sweatshirt!!
After the chain instillation was complete, Rod, Paula and I took off on the bicycles for a ride, I was cold most of the ride out on the riverfront, but when we were up in town it was not bad. Nice 5 miles of exercise!!
We decided on baked Parmesan chicken steamed potatoes, and garlic bread for dinner and then we decided on a game of UNO. AND I WON!!!!!  It was fierce playing!! For a while I thought Paula and I would be sleeping on the couch tonight!! Ha
Tomorrow is HUMP day!!! The time is going by fast. We are going to Titusville tomorrow to eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch and then a trip to Coco Beach to a boat outlet for some more parts to repair our dinghy ( mine and Lexie's Limosine).
Weather is still suppose to be cold, so a day in the car will be welcomed!!! 75 degree temps are predicted for the weekend!!!! I'm looking forward to that!!!!!
We send our love to all !!!!  Fran and Capn Rod

They laid it all out on the dock first and marked off each 50 ft section!!  See the green, white, and red paint? That way you know how much chain you let out when you are at anchor!!!

It took 3 guys guys to roll this barrel of 300 lbs of chain up to the front of the boat where the anchor and holding chamber is!!! No easy task!!!!

As 4 people fed it in the chamber we played the song "Working on the Chain Gang" hehe

I found this tree in a yard while riding the bike!! Guess what it is? A dwarf tangelo tree!! This had about the size of half dollars!! Cool HUH !!!!!

1/27/15 Tuesday Sanford Fla

Here it is the 27th!!! Man the month of Januray is gone!!!  It was cool here today and still windy!! But the sky is blue and the temp was about 65 degrees but with the wind it felt a bit cooler!!!
Rod and Jim left this morning for Ft. Lauderdale about 8am. So that meant I had to get up and walk Lexie!!! She was sooooo disapointed when he left with out her this morning!!! It was breezy but a nice walk!!! She came back and spent the rest of the day sunning on the back deck!! Ha I'm sure that's what she does most of the time anyway!! Ha I started defrosting the refrigerator!! What a job!!! You don't know how nice it is to have a frost free fridge until you have to defrost it yourself!! Ha I have another one  I do not have to defrost!!! Thank goodness!!
Paula and I started out about 11am and went to The Corner Cafe and devoured a bowl of that French Onion soup in a bread bowl!!! Yummo!!! Then we decided to walk off the calories so we made the 4 miles round trip to the Great Herons nest on the river walk and back to the boat!! Rested up a bit I finished 1 load of laundry and started a second load!! Then we borrowed a neighbors bike for me as I did not want to ride our tandem bike by myself, and off we went again for a long 5.5 mile bike ride through the residential section of Sanford but a nice scenic ride. Back to the boat again cleaned house a little more and finished completing supper for the guys when they arrived back. Crock pot of pulled pork and home made coleslaw, rolls and Paula made a pineapple cobbler!!!  Yummy!!! More calories again!ha   We walk/ride the calories off then eat them back on!! Hehe   What a fun day!!
Dishes done, Jammys on and ready to chill out a bit this evening.
It has been a good day!! The guys had a safe trip and got 300 lbs of anchor chain Jim needed and of course Rod found a few good buys also. I guess I should not be surprised!! I have a few pics to share from today.
Hope all are doing well, and we send our love to all, Fran and Capn Rod

Any one old enough to remember doing this to your freezer? Or maybe helped your Mom? Be thankful for frost free fridges!! Ha

A resting spot on the walk this morning!! Look what blue skies and water!!!

Just had to stop on the bike ride today as I saw this monster 4wheeler swamp buggy sitting in a yard!! My grandson Triston would drool over this thing!!! Hehe

1/26/15 Monday Sanford Fla.

What a windy day!!!! OMG!!! Blue skies, 60 degrees, but the wind has blown 35-40 mph most of the day !!!
After the eventful day of bike riding yesterday, we just really slowed down today!! Ha   We went to Walmart for a few groceries, and to BJ's (it's like our SAMs club) and then back to the boat!! Paula and Jim came over and had coffee on the deck, and we just sat and talked and watched the wind blow!! Fun day HUH !!!  Jim and Rod did go and exchange Paula's bike for a 26 inch as the 24 inch was just to short for her!! Other than that we did NOTHING!!!! Rod still had to make a few more changes to the home theater system he purchased a week ago and STILL it is just working right!!! I would have done thrown the thing in the garbage! Ha   We had a nice Asian salad and baked potato for dinner and watched the last of the new movies tonight we recieved from Kaye ( Sherrys mom in law) !!!   Thanks again Kaye it was a great gift!!!
Jim and Rod are going in the morning for an all day trip to Fort Lauderdale to a boat supply outlet for some things!!  Guess what I'm going to do?  Defrost my fridge!!! That's right ladies one of my refrigerators is NOT frost free!!! It's like living in the 60's !!! ha  I never thought I would ever have to defrost a fridge again (since the 60's) but I do!!! Only about ever 6months so I guess that's not too bad!!!  Got to take the bad with the good!! Ha
Sorry no pics today, stayed in most of the day!!!
We love you all, Fran and Capn Rod

1/25/15 Sunday Sanford Fla

What a wonderful Sunday!!! God provided a great day, a little cool at 65 degrees, for riding the trails at Gemini Springs Park!! Buddy, a guy here at the Marina was able to obtain a pickup truck and loaded 6 bikes, and 7 people and carried all of us over to the trails. About a 5 mile trip trip to the park.  Bikes unloaded and off we went!!! What a beautiful ride!!! wooded trails, marsh areas, some went along the highway, but all the trail was paved.  It is a 30 some mile round trip around Lake Monroe!!! OK,so we only cover about 8.5 miles!!!! On the way a stop at a Burger King for a lunch!! What a treat to have fast food just across the street from the trail we were riding!! Hehe  That was the 4 miles then we turned around and rode back completing the 8.5 miles when we were done!!! When we arrived back at the boat we rested a bit, and off we went again to ride around town and to drop off some mail at the post office. Fed the ducks, then it got kind of chilly so back home we went!!
We felt we have had a great day!!!! Lots of excercise today!! Ha
A few Pics to share!!! Love to all, Fran and Capn Rod

Beginning of the trail !!!

Unloading the bikes!! Thank you Buddy for obtaining a vehicle to carry our rides to the park!!

A stop at the Burger King!! Hehe

1/24/15 Saturday Sanford Fla

Saturday morning, lazy in bed till 8:30 am!!! Great to be on vacation!!! Ha. We decided even though it was cool, and very windy we would go for a bike ride. We went just down the waterfront and found a coffee shop for breakfast. A great egg bagel with tomatoes, green onion and tomato!! Yummy!!! We discussed the plan of trying to go to the movies but it is 7 miles or so to the nearest theater, just to far for a bike ride in the cold. Sooooo we decided to check out the bus system. First I discovered the theater closest to us here did not offer the movie American Sniper!! So I did find out it was at the theater in Lake Mary. So we got the bus schedule and got on board!!! 2 hours later (should have been 20 mins max by car) we got NEAR the area where they told us the theater was!!!! No where to be found and after pulling up the address on the map on my phone we would have still had to have walked a LONG WAY!!! So we got back on the next bus and rode back to the marina!!! What a day!!! Also I need to mention on one of the bus changes we had to make on this venture, I left my new camera in the seat beside me!!!! I discovered it missing in about 30 seconds and Rod was able to jump back on that bus and retrieve it for me !!! OMG!!! I was so thankful I discover it was not in my backpack!!! Ha    It would have been in the next pawn shop before I could have ever run that bus down!!!! The Lord saved me again!!!!!
Paula and Jim are on their way back from St Perterburg where they spent the day and we are going for an ice cream treat!!! Sorry no pics today, in all that went on just had nothing to photo!!!
We are going to Glen Springs park tomorrow with a big group from the marina for a trail ride!! Hoping for a fun day!!
Much love to all, Fran and Capn Rod

Today again was a work day for me!!! I cleaned house and washed clothes!! What fun!! Rod and Jim had a fun day at the shooting range!!!! It's a boy thing!! Ha
Mostly cloudy today yet the temperature was almost 80 degrees!!! Rain coming in this afternoon, in fact it started about an hour ago.7:30pm.  Rain predicted to end my mid morning tomorrow, but also is suppose to be a bit cooler. So not sure what Rod and I will do tomorrow!!! As I write he is STILL working on the home theater system setup!!! It's been a real headache for him!!! Just can't seem to get it programmed correctly. One thing I can say he is persistent!!! ha
Paula and I did get in a good walk today and just had to check in on the Great Heron nest. They are still working on building it!!! I have attached a few pics!! I wish the pics could show how they dance together!!!! Amazing to watch!! We stopped and purchased a mocha latte to enjoy as we walked!!hehe
I guess that did waste our calories!!! Ha

1/20/15 Tuesday Sanford Fla

What a beautiful day here in sunny Florida!!!  Paula and I took off this morning and did our 2 mile walk down the waterfront !! Rod and Jim took off for a shopping day!! Rod came home with a home theater surround sound set up!!! Part of my birthday!! Haha.  We have been looking at them but just did not want the expense right now but he found a discontinued model at Walmart, so home with him it came!!! The rest of the day was set up and instillation of 6 speakers in a 10X10 living room!!!!  He is still working on programming it as I write!!! Ha
We did take a break for a great dinner at Denny's enjoying food and fun with good friends!!!
We got out on the dock around 7:45 this evening to see the missile launch from Cape Canaveral tonight but I did not get any good photos. The launch was going away from us so pics just did not do it justice. In less than 2 minutes it was out of site.
Tomorrow will surely be a kayak day for Paula and I, the water is calm and weather is promised to be georgeous!!!
I have attached a few pics I took today!! My camera is always set on go!!
As always much love to all, Fran and Capn Rod

YES !!!! I thought they only sold those in SC !!!! Rod got plain ones, I chose Cajun style!!! We rode about 2 miles and found a picnic table, and enjoyed our Pepsi and boiled peanuts!!! What a treat!!! Then we just rode some of the backstreets as this is a HUGH historic town!!  Lots of old restored homes here.
When we returned home,10 miles later,  Paula called said lets go to Coldstone Creamery for ice cream!!!!! So this time we took the car!! Ha    After enjoying a good size bowl of that sinful stuff, they wanted to walk around the area as some of the stores were open,I just had to decline!!!! I don't think my legs could take another walk!!  Ha   Soooo instead they decided to just take me back home!!! Hehe

Hey Guys!!! Well not much to tell today!!! A good long walk with Lexie this morning on the river walk was enjoyable!!! A trip to Walmart for a few groceries!!! RAIN the rest of the day and 60 degrees!!! Yuck!
Rod did accomplish several chores today. He sealed the doors on the back deck, made a chain guard for our bike, and repaired a leak around one of the curtains on our back deck!! That was much needed!!! It Was not suppose to rain until 7pm tonight but it started around 1pm and still raining now!! Hopefully it will be gone tomorrow. 1/14/15 Wednesday Sanford Fla

Hey everybody IT'S HUMP DAY!!!! like it matters to me!! Ha. Everyday is the same when your on vacation!!! We had decided yesterday that today was to be going to the zoo day!! Woke up this morning and it was 55 degrees!!! But we dressed warm, started out on the bike and off we went on the 3 mile ride to the zoo. It was chilly and my sweatshirt felt good. Of course compared to the weather I saw most if you were having, I should not complain!!!
The zoo was great!!! Most of the animals were trying to stay warm and curled up in their beds or slow moving!! If I posted all the wonderful pics of animals we saw today, I would load up the internet !! Ha
After 3 hours there we headed back to the boat it was chilly ride back although it had warmed up to sbout 65-70 degrees but the wind was blowing so it felt colder!!!
Rod took off again and went and purchased our tickets to see the tribute to the Eagles concert at the theater here in town on Saturday night. Looking forward to that adventure!!!
BBQ pork chops steamed veggies and sliced tomatoes for dinner! They were delicious!!!
Hoping for a warmer day tomorrow. Hope all of you are staying warm!!
I'll keep posting our adventures!!!!
Love to all, Fran and Capn Rod

1/13/15 Tuesday Sanford Fla

What a great surprise to wake up this morning to incredibly sunny blue skies!!! Rod and Jim left early around 8am to go to the VA Hospital in Melbourne where Jim had an appt and Rod rode with him!! I stayed in bed watching TV for a while then Paula called and said let's walk the river front!!! Off we went for a nice 2 miles of beautiful views, good friend company and wonderful warm temperatures!!! Not to mention some good exercise!! Ha
When we returned I started some laundry and Rod returned back and wanted to go ride the bike, and we were hungry!! So off we went again and could not resist The Corner Cafe restaurant where we ate a few days ago. I enjoyed a French onion soup in a bread bowl and a small Cobb salad with that great basil and oregano dressing,  Rod had a French onion soup bowl and a Ham and cheese panini. Much needed calories after a long walk!! It does not help much to walk off the calories then consume the calories you burned in one meal!! Ha Oh well!!! It sure was scrumptious !!!!
We then stopped at the Sanford Museum and then went to the new History museum 7 blocks downtown and toured there!! When your married to a history buff, that's what you do!!!! I'll share a few pics I took today!! Since we had such a big lunch we enjoyed a few chicken wings I had in the freezer for supper tonight. I'm now showered and in my Jammys again, resting up for a ride and spending the day at the zoo tomorrow!! Jim and Paula have some appts tomorrow so we won't get to spend much time with them.
I ask for continued prayer for Jim's son Jamie as he continues to battle all the issues with Cancer, treatment complications and financial decisions. God hears every prayer!!!!!
Love to all!!! Fran and Capn Rod
As you see by my post each evening I love the birds!! This is a Anhinga!!! Sitting on a tree right by the walkway this morning!!
