June 30th Las Vegas, Nevada

What a great relaxing Sunday!! Got up late!! Walked the quarter of a mile across the street at the restaurant and ate breakfast. Some good TV time with Charles Stanley. And then NASCAR racing in Chicago. A 3 hour delay for rain so we read for a while and just had some good downtime. Finally the race was able to resume so that was our afternoon!! I made home made chicken pot pie for supper and took Lexie for a nice long walk a sit cooled down to a meat 90 degrees!!! Lol. There is a nice breeze and the humidity is 0 !!! Lexie hates the desert she has not been able to poop on grass for several days and she don’t like it one little bit!! Lol.  Doing her business on sand and rock is not for her !!  She’s spoiled !!!
I like the desert but no way would I live here on a permanent basis. This is a small park we are in and everyone is so nice. They even have a small community center and we were invited to come play Bingo Monday night. Lol   Every Monday night !!! Hehe
We have 2 great air conditions on this rig so we are cool and comfy!!
Love to all, Ms. Fran & Cap’n Rod
PS OMG tomorrow is July 1st!!! We have had a great June!!!

That’s hot!!!

The day we pulled in!

Still got a lot of California to cover!!

June 27-28-29 2019 Las Vegas, NV

We left the Cracker Barrel this morning early headed for our next stay for 9 days south of Las Vegas, NV.  We went south of Las Vegas to a desert campground called Cal-Nev-Ari RV Park in a community called Kidwell!! It really is in the midd.e of the desert. We knew we could get to Las Vegas, and to Hoover Dam and to Boulder City within an hour. Also I chose here because they told me there would be NO FIREWORKS with in many many miles. Most of you know we don’t sleep any on the 4th of July because Lexie has anxiety to the point of seizures with them. So a great  place for us to spend the holiday weekend. Plus most campgrounds out here are book full during this holiday.
27th We spent the first day setting up and took a route into California to a city called Bullhead. Beautiful town with a gorgeously lake and lots of history. We plan to return for a full day here. We had rode enough for the day so we showered and went to bed early (early for here, as we lost another hour getting here!!! Lol)

28th Friday !!!  Hoover Dam!!! All day!!! We took the extended tour there to go inside and outside the Dam. What an amazing place and we had a wonder tour guide. Them we spent fighting the crowds wondering around this huh place!! There is a 5 story parking deck if that tells you anything about how many people were there!! Plus the have a huge tour bus parking lot!!! They shuttle people through the exhibits like roped cattle!! Lol. We still had a great day at 104 degrees!!!!

29th Saturday.  We went into Las Vegas and drove the strip saw all the sights downtown I still want to see it at night, but Rod says he is not interested enough to fight the night time crowd!!
First visit Count Kustoms!! I’m sure you have seen the TV show. Great museum. We may go back again as they told us that Danny is there during the week.
Then on to Pawn Stars!! We got photos with Mark the consultant that values the history stuff for Rick on TV. He was an incredibly nice man and was so excited to stand with each person in the long line for a pic and talked to each person!!!
We went next door to Chumlees Candy Blvd store and he was there as well. Nice to everyone but did not take time for photos with people. The store is a total size of a 12X12 room and 75-80 people waiting to go inside!!!!
Then we drove to The Carrol Shelby Car Museum. They hook your phone up to their internet then send you to a website that walks you through the narrated tour step by step. Rod really enjoyed.
We will return to Las Vegas again since we will be here another week.
Over all another great day!!
Love to all, Ms. Fran & Cap’n Rod

June 25th and 26th, 2019 Cody Wy to Washington, Utah

Still trying to catch up now that we are in civilization with descent WiFi !!!!
We Finished up our tour time in Cody Wy on Tuesday the 25th !! Enjoyed a walking trip through the downtown area. Ate lunch at the famous Irma Hotel and Restaurant. Rod thought about going to a visit at the Wild Bill Cody Museum but believe it or not he said I have seen enough about Wild Bill!!! I was amazed!!! We decided at 2pm we would pull out and ride as far as we could heading south!! We are really fed up with being cold!! I need some warm weather!!! We drove to Rock Springs Wy and arrived about 9pm. Set up camp along with 22 other campers in the Walmart parking lot!!! Lol  They so welcome the campers out here and set aside places for everyone!!

Today the 26th we left the Walmart about 7:30am and headed on south with in a few hours the temp was 90 degrees!!! Yeah!!! Warm weather. I put on shorts for the first time in a month!!!  Driving 6 1/2 hours we stopped at the Cracker Barrel in Washington, Utah. Had a great meal and ran the air conditioning for the first time!!!!  Makes me smile!!!😁
We will head out in the morning to just south of Las Vegas to camp for 3 maybe 4 days depending what all we want to do in the area.
The views coming through south Wyoming and Utah have just been magnificent!!
I’m going to try and see how many photos I can post!!
Pray for our safe travels!!! Love to all, Ms. Fran & Cap’n Rod

June 24th completion!!! PICS

I guess I met my limit on the previous post as it would not let me type anymore!!!! Lol
All I need to complete is as many photos as possible!!! I wish I could post the 178 pics I took this week!! And some just do not do show the magnitude of this great area of land God made for us to see. But God also knows I am not a winter time girl so I’m ready to head south for a little while before heading north again!,   Love to all, Ms. Fran & Cap’n Rod

June 14-24th 2019 South Dakota and Wyoming

Woohoo!!! Finally got out of the Rocky Mountains and to a place with some internet capabilities!!!!
So let’s back up!!
June 14th We traveled 9 1/2 hours to Sioux Falls, SD headed to Deadwood SD but could not drive any farther!!!! We spent the night at a Cracker Barrel!!! The manager said this is the last one we would see till we headed back home, as there are non any farther west!!

June 15th We pulled out of the Cracker Barrel around 6:30 am as we had reservation at Steel Wheel RV Park in Deadwood tonight. We arrived around 1 pm and got all set up for our 3 day stay.

June 16th. First stop MT RUSHMORE!!! I was astounded as to how much the park itself had grown but the presidents faces were still the same I had seen 40 some years ago!!  Lol. We then went to the Crazy House monument!!  Just in its beginning stages. They told us our great grand children would be the ones to see it at its completion!! When completed it will be the largest rock statue in the world.
I hope they will one day see it and say my great grandparents saw it when it was first started!!!

June 17th.  We drove to Rapid City, SD to visit Bear Country. It’s a drive through park where the biggest portion of the animals are roaming free and come look in your car as you go by. That evening we went into Deadwood, SD and walked the street and watched the gun fight of Wild Bill Hickok and the trial of Jack McCall who shot him!!! Fun little theater street and trial in the saloon shows.

June 18th We went back to downtown Deadwood as there is soooo much history that Rod wanted to see as much as possible. Visited the cemetery where Wild Bill and Calamity Jane are buried and of course read all the history possible!!! Fun Fun day!! I do believe Rod has gotten his fill of all the old Cowboy history in the old west!!!

June 19th We decided to drive back east on the interstate about 2 hours to visit a 1880s authentic town we had seen on the way to deadwood but no time to stop. We were so glad we did it was as authentic town as possible could have been created. Lots of movie set buildings there from the movie Dances with Wolves!! On the way back to Deadwood we also visited the Famous town of Wall Drug which they said was featured many time on NBC network. To us it was nothing but a hug tourist trap!!! Lol

June 20th. We left Steel Wheel RV Park and drove 6 1/2 hours to Cody Wyoming.  We could not check into our campground in Yellowstone National Park till tomorrow so we spent the night a a campground, I mean a real campground at the Walmart!!!!!  22 RVs set up in the lot set aside for
Campers!!!! That’s a new one!!!!  It was good as they also had an automotive dept and we needed
tires for the dolly that pulls our car. Rod took them off, put them in a shopping cart, they put on new tires and he carted them back and put them on in one hour!!!! Lol I replenished groceries for the 3 days in Yellowstone!!!

June 21st.  We got set up around 12:30 pm at Green Creek RV Park. Small little place expensive and no amenities which we don’t need anyway, but the price was way out of line. BUT this time of year you take what you can get and it was clean and a safe place. We had laundry to do and some house cleaning and motorhome needed washing so that  was our chore afternoon.

June 22nd. We were in an RV park on the south of Yellowstone but we were determined to see Old Faithful. SNOW OR NOT!!! Yes there was plenty of snow and wind chill was 35 degrees!! Cloudy day made old faithful not as spectacular as it could be if it were a nice sunny day. the drive and all the wildlife made the day a fabulous one anyway!!

June 23rd We went back to the far north of Yellowstone to see The Tower Falls. That was a great view but again the wildlife for us was the most fabulous!!!! Buffalo, Dear, Large horned Rams, Black bears, A grizzly bear!!! Wow it was a great day trip. We also stopped at Canyon Village and did the tourist gift shop thing!!, lol

June 24th We had to leave the campground that day but really wanted to go back to Cody, SD ( only 25 miles) and see the town and the Rodeo!!!! We we went back to the Walmart campground and went the Rodeo this evening!!! A FABULOUS evening. Before we went to the Rodeo we went to the Buffalo Dam the largest at its time of completion in 1910!!

June 13th, 2019 LeClaire, Iowa

We left Leisure Time RV Park in Decatur Michigan about 9:30 this morning in the pouring rain. Rod was so glad he had hooked up the car on the dolly last evening when we got back.
We drove 267 miles to LeClaire, Iowa as we planned to stop here and see the Buffalo Bill Museum. We were told we could park in the city parking lot located right on the Mississippi River. Absolutely beautiful. The museum was well worth the stop. We walked up in to town and ate at the Mexican restaurant out on the back porch of the restaurant that overlooks the Mississippi!!! The view was fabulous. We took Lexie for a nice long walk along the river walk and met a local lady that told us go across the street and see the American Picker shop!!! WHAT. Mike and Frank could be there she said.
She told us Frank owns a home here in LeClaire so he is here a lot.
The girls in the shop were wonderful young girls that took us in and allowed Lexie to come in as well. Of course we had to have T-Shirts and me a tote bag!! (I have a thing for tote bags).
We saw lots of things we had seen them buy on TV. What a terrific surprise!!!!
We walked back to the motorhome and was talking that we had been here in this town for about 5 hours and there had been 4 trains go through town. Our motorhome was sitting about 10 feet from the tracks. Rod decided he would not sleep any with trains waking him all night so we pulled out drove 8 miles to a Walmart and here we are set up for the night. Lexie had ran out of her favorite treats so this was a great time to stock up on those!!!
We had a great travel day as the rained stopped in a couple of hours into our trip. We went down and around Lake Michigan through Indiana and into Iowa. It was a great day!!
Love to all, Ms. Fran & Cap’n Rod

June 10,11,12 2019 Kalamazoo, MI

Actually we landed south of Kalamazoo, the folks here call it “Kazoo” in a small Town Decatur!!!
We set up at Leisure Time RV Park. Big farming town that has fields and fields of vineyards, strawberry’s, and cherry orchards. We came here to meet up with out long time friends from Myrtle Beach Judy and Wayne Berryman. They live here all summer and they have a home in Florida where we meet them in the wintertime. The 10th was a travel day and the 11th we scouted out the farming town of Decatur and Rod got in some good fishing time!! And it was fishing not catching!! Lol
Today the 12th we went to the Berrymen’s saw there home here and they took us to a wonderful place for lunch. They still have their Dachound Snickers!!! Almost 13 yrs old and still spry as a puppy.
They took us through the town but mostly we just enjoyed our time together. So wonderful to see them again!! Thanks guys for sharing the day with us!!
