Day 23 of our voyage "Headed to the Keys". 1/1/13

Happy New Year!!! We have so enjoyed being tucked away in this beautiful little cove here in Islamorada!! Sheltered from the wind and wonderful 80 degree weather and GREAT bicycle paths!! We ate breakfast this morning at a local little place called Bob's Bun's what a breakfast and we also picked up some fresh home made sticky buns (made by owner and pastry chef Bob himself) YUMYUM!! We ate them back on the boat for a snack later this morning!!! We rode the North end of the Island and found a World Wide Outfitters (looked just like Bass Pro Shop) They had Ernest Hemingsway fishing boat on display in this building!! I will post some pics i took of Rod sitting inside "The Pixlar " They also had a large pool out back with Tarpon fish HUGH fish and a TiKi hut that made Margaritas. So we decided to return later to partake!!!
We went back to the boat and Rod put on his diving gear to go under the boat to check out any damage!! All looked good !!! yea!!! Just tooooo cold for me so I took picture of Rod and him feeding the fish under water with biscuits we had left over yesterday !!
We then got in the Kayak and paddle around the bay!! How incredibly beautiful!! I so wish the waters were this clear in Georgetown.
We did do the traditional New Years Dinner and I fixed Ham, collard greens, hoppinjohn (field peas and rice) and corn bread!! Later we went back to the Tiki Hut for that Margarita !!
We visited the Hurricane Memorial on our way home commemorating the victims of the worst hurricane this Island has ever had on Labor Day 1935!! We went back to the boat and got the boat ready to untie in the morning to head out again!!
Love to all and many blessings in the coming year !!!! Fran
PICs: Rod in Ernest Hemingways boat and Lexie begging to play!! She is too sweet!!!
