2/19/16 Friday Fernendino Beach Amelia Island, Fla

Kind of getting use to these short travel days!!! Ha We untied from the Jacksonville City docks this morning around 8am. We had a great travel day as we only went about 30 miles and docked again at Fernendino Marina on Amelia Island. We had been told by a few people the last few years we were missing out on a great visit here. So being that we really wanted to cross those 2 bad sounds (St. Andrews & St. Catherine) early in the morning, we decided to make a stop here for the afternoon. We really enjoyed our time here today and was able to visit the history museum for a few hours, ate some lunch at Salty Pelican, and walked through the downtown area,(pistachio ice cream included in that walk), rode our bike through the historic homes and then had pizza and a salad at Ards Firewood pizza. We have scouted out several places we will visit on our stop here next year as we do plan to put it into our plans for a few days here.
It's been a great adventure day!! Please continue to pray for a safe journey home!
I have a few pics to share from today's travels!! Love and blessings to all, Fran & Capn Rod

Just as we pulled out of the Marina in Jacksonville, we spotted this horned owl with her babies in an osprey nest on a channel marker. Look real close to see the 2 babies heads.
Another closer shot!! What a treat to see!! It is a common trait for owls to take over nests of other birds such as this osprey nest.

A good shot of an eagle sitting down close to the water!! That's not often seen!!

We figured this was her juvenile (teenager) sitting just below her!!

A good 2 hours at the history museum. Ever known us to pass up a history place!!! NOT!!

My view this evening from the back deck of the boat! We got in just in time almost missed the sunset!
