Day 4 Thursday 1/2/2014

Another Rainy day traveling!!! We pulled up anchor this morning at 7:15 just as the sun was trying to bring in a little daylight!!  FOGGY FOGGY FOGGY !!! And RAIN and more rain!! When we got to St. Andrews Sound ( the dreaded body of water for most boaters) we decided to take a long route around, about 3 miles out of the way to bypass having to cross the rough water of the sound. The problem was,low tide by the time we got to the short cut. The charts stated 4 1/2 feet in the most shallow areas. Our boat drafts 3 1/2 feet and the wind was blowing which made the water lower than normal. It was raining so hard we experienced a complete white out, and had to navigate totally with the chart plotter and depth gauge!!!!! We went thru the so called short cut about 5 mph and drug the bottom two or three times. This short cut took about an hour longer, than going through St. Andrews Sound. Now back on scheduled route, the weather cleared and we did see the sun pop through the clouds a few times!!
Traveling 73 miles today brought us to Fernandina Beach, Fla and we anchored at Bells River with about 5 other boats.
Dinner of some leftovers, dishes done, I'm ready to settle in for another night of piece and quiet, lulled to sleep by the gentle motion of the water against the boat!! Music to our ears!!
Love to all and keep us in your prayers for safe travels tomorrow, Ms. Fran and Capt Rod
I have attached a few pics I took today as you can see Lexie was our hightlight!!!  Although we did have a welcomed surprise today!!  Check it our below!!!

This was the weather map when we left our anchorage this morning!!! And stayed with us most of the day!!!

This was the white out we encounter for over 2 hours of our travel today !!!! Could not see anything, we strictly had to rely on our chart plotter and radar!!! It took patience, but I have a great Captain!!!

After the fog cleared we had a hitchhiker come on board and rode with is for a few miles until Lexie saw it and snuck out to get a closer look and he was gone!!  You could tell he had done this before, he did not seem to mind us only 15 feet away!!  Beautiful animal!!,

as you can see I took several of him!!!

Rodney caught me House keeping!!  Somebody has to clean the potty patch!!!!

Lexie at the window watching the pelican!!!

She loves leftovers too!!!
I love my daddy's chair!!  Ready for a good nights sleep!!!

Great shots of the pelican and Lexie.... awww .... how cute. What is boating without a little inclement weather, right? : D Glad you are heading south and to warmer climate! Wishing you the best that life has to offer for this Blessed New Year.
