12/11/14 Thursday Hammock Island, Georgia anchorage

YES!!!! We made it to Georgia!!! We traveled about 70 miles today!!! We left Pigeon Point around 7:10am this morning with an incredible sun rise I have pictured at the end!!! The state of Georgia is a bit boring as the waterway is a lot of marsh area. We had beautiful, sunny weather, blue skies and a landscape that kept us enjoying the whole day. When we got to Savannah, it was all we could do not to make that turn and go into the city!!!! It is one of our most favorite places to spend some time. BUT we decided to wait and stop on our way back and spend some time there.
Thunderbolt is a HUGH marine right on the waterway in Savannah, I had to marvel,at the HUGH mega yachts there for repairs!!! Wow!! Who owns these!!  Pics below!!
I made a miscalculation yesterday as there is another day yet before we reach Jekyll Island!! We anchored about 4pm this afternoon at Hammock Island on the Ogeechee River about 20 miles south of Savannah, Ga. As we anchored we watched a helicopter come and dipped up a HUGH bucket of water out of the waterway and take over to and island that was on fire. We hoped there were not houses there and it was just timber fire. Should be able to see better in the morning!!
Quiet evening!! Did a little house keeping, cooked a pot of chili for dinner, then Rod attached a float to a fishing line and threw it out off the back deck!! We set the sights on my BB gun and did some practicing!! We are easlly entertained at this point!! Ha   We have one channel on the TV (ABC) so we watched a little TV and now ready for sleep!!! We want to start early in the morning as it is still 85 miles to Jekyll Island and we do plan to stay at the marina there for a day or maybe 2!!! Really need to get to land for a bit and I know Lexie will love it!! She is having a great trip so far, but just as we do, she loves to have some other social activity after a few days!!! Ha
Thanks for keeping up with us as we continue on our southern excursion searching for warm weather!!!! Ha    Please continue to pray for our safe travel !!
Love to all, Ms. Fran and Capt Rod
What a sun rise!!! Makes waking up early worthwhile!!
