1/2/17 Monday

Rod got a real wild hair and decided this morning he wanted to go on a 20 mile bike ride and visit Plantation Key and Windley Key. These 2 Island are just north of the island we are on which is
Matacumbe Key ( the city is Islamorada). So packed with bottled water off went!! It was a beautiful easy ride, as I have said before there are great bike paths here in the Keys which makes for good safe riding. We found a state park WindleyKey Fossel Reef Geological state park. It was a great history lesson on how these islands were formed 1000's of years ago.
A difinitely ride worth taking!!! We were pooped by the time we got back to the boat! Soooo we rested!!!! Lol
About 4pm we decided to partake in another meal at the Shrimp Shack just down the street. Rod had shrimp and grits, I had Gator bites onion straws and coleslaw! Another great meal!! Hehe
We then decided to take another cruise around the islands here on the kayak so off we went again! This time he had to do most of the paddelimg!! We had an amazing evening!! Overall an amazing day!
We watched the magician guy here at the marina again, then it was a shower and I'm ready for bed!!! Lol
Tomorrow will be mostly a preparation day to pull out of here early Wednesday morning and make the long journey across Biscayne Bay back to South Beach Miami where we plan to spend a couple of days. We have throughly enjoyed our time here but also ready to move on!! Ha
I have some pics to share!!
Much love to all, Ms. Fran & Capn Rod
The entrance to the state park
The book they give you for a self guided tour. We walked every trail! So not only a long bike ride we walked for a mile in the park.
Coral was excavated from this island up until the 1960's. starting in 1935

Pics just can't show th magnitude if the coral here!!

The walls where the coral was taken from that are still left.
Saw this guy on the ride today!! He was as big as a house!! Hehe
