1/7/15 Wednesday St John's River south of Jacksonville, Fla

We had a great night rest last night we chose the best anchorage yet!!! Easy in, easy out, and calm waters!! Traveled 92 miles today!!! Almost our best yet!!  We had the tide and the wind with us almost all day. We had little boat traffic, only one railroad bridge that we had to wait to open!!! That was only about 5 mins. We are now headed south again on the St Johns River where it will dead end at Lake Monroe in Sanford, Fla.
I've got to tell a funny story!!! As we came through Jacksonville, we started smelling something like it was food being scorched !!! Not good when you are setting on a boat in the middle of a BIG river. So I went on a search first, found nothing!!! Rod went next checked out the motor room, found nothing!! Both of us did notice the smell was not inside the boat!! HUH!!!
In about 3 mins we came upon the Maxwell House Coffee Factory and there was our strong smell!!! IT WAS ROASTING COFFEE BEANS!!!  HEHE!!! Gave us a relief and an good laugh!!
We are anchored tonight at a cove named Bayard Point!! We thought it would be a good place, but as I sit writing we are rocking up and down constantly!!! It may be a rough night and may not be a place we ever chose again!! Wind has picked up a good bit since we anchored and the tide is changing!!!
We will have a short trip tomorrow as we want to anchor early at Glen Springs and get the dinghy off and ride over to the springs where 100's of manatee live!!! So many you can't run your dinghy motor after you go in you must paddle your way through!!  They are such incredible animals and we have been there before!! Excited about seeing them again!!! Lexie will love it too!! She has looked at the Dolphins all day!!! Even when they are not swimming with us she still sits and looks in hopes one will come by!!  At least it gives her something to do. hehe
Looking forward to being in Sanford and sitting still for a little while, and seeing our friends Paula and Jim!!! I will keep you posted daily on our adventures!!!!
Love to all and as I always say Thanks for your prayers!!! We covet each one!! Fran and Capn Rod

An old clipper ship on display for tours in St Augustine!! Rod hated to past it by and not stop!!

Lexie spending most of her day searching for the Dolphins!!! Keeps her busy!! ha

This fountain was in downtown Jacksonville!! It was incredibly Hugh!!
