1/8/15 Thursday Sanford, Fla

Yes !!! This afternoon about 5:30pm we arrived and docked at Lake Monroe Marina in Sanford!!!!!
Not without a misshap last night!!! As you may remember I wrote last night that we had anchored at Baynard Point on the St John's River and it appeared to be a good spot but when the wind picked up it was incredible !!!! By 9:30pm I just could not sleep with the boat rocking so violent!!!  I laid down and did fall asleep but Rod woke me up at midnight and said we had drifted into almost the front yard of a house!!! When I got the navigation system up and running we had drifted from where we anchored
1 1/4  miles!!!! Rod started the motors we got the boat moving and back in the waterway with difficulty but in the pitch dark ( you can not see those crab traps in the dark and there are hundreds to dodge).
We travel 26 miles, 3 hours travel time before we were able to find another place out of the wind and suitable for anchorage!!!!  Oh what a night!!! We were exhausted and slept until 8 am before we got started again. We planned to stop at Sliver Glen Springs and see the manatee, but heard on the forecast the wind was predicted to be as bad if not worse tonight, so instead we decided to push on and get to Sanford by 5-5:30pm and we did !!!! Paula, Jim and another man came and helped us dock and get tied and set out lines for wind to come!!! It is 9:30pm and the wind is here!!! So glad we decided to come on and not take the chance of another sleepless night.
Went to IHOP for a quick dinner and just enjoyed our time with our BBF's( best boater Friends)!!! Now we are just ready for some much needed catch up sleep!!!
I'll keep you updated on our adventures here!!!
Love to all, Fran and Capn Rod
It may not look that rough but these waves wer 2-3 feet tall
